Cory Arthurs, Clinical Counsellor

Cory is the Registered Clinical Counsellor at Elements Wellness Centre, providing individual counselling to adults of all ages. She brings a wide array of knowledge and ability to work with those struggling with symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use, as well as supporting individuals through difficult life transitions or grief and loss.  Her work with clients has allowed her to witness incredible strength and resiliency, and the immense capacity of each individual to move through change in their own way, at their own pace. She has deep admiration for each person she works with, as she supports them to achieve the goals they have in their lives.

After completing her undergraduate degree in Addiction Counselling from the University of Lethbridge, Cory returned to her hometown of Calgary, AB where she spent many years working with individuals struggling with substance use and related issues.  Seven years ago, she made the move to beautiful Vancouver, where she later completed her Masters of Counselling degree at the City University of Seattle.  Cory is a strong believer that counselling should be a collaborative journey, facilitated with respect, compassion, and safety. She utilizes a person-centered, strength-based therapeutic approach to provide a space of healing, and growth. Cory’s knowledge in working with trauma, substance use, and women’s issues is supported by her specialized training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. This therapeutic approach offers a unique method of working with the wisdom of the body, not just the mind and the story, to resolve the effects of trauma and heal from the hurts of the past.

Cory is a member in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC membership # 13104). Information about this association, client session fee schedule, and the ethics I am committed to can be found on their website at www.bc-counsellors.org. Many extended health benefit providers cover the cost of counselling by a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Please check with your plan administrator or health benefit company to determine your coverage.

In addition to being a member of the BCACC, Cory is a Crime Victim Assistance Program approved counsellor. Individuals who have been victim of, or witness to a crime in BC may be eligible for counselling at no cost. Please contact CVAP directly for more information about your eligibility and access to this program, at cvap@gov.bc.ca or 1-866- 660-3888.

You are deserving of support in your journey, and Cory will respect and honour your story and come alongside you on your journey of change. If you are facing difficulties in your life, and want to live a more fulfilled, settled life, book an appointment to begin exploring your unique capacity for change and healing. 15-minute phone consultations are available, free of charge, to see if working together is right for you.
