Nutritional Therapy

WHAT IS A NUTRITIONAL THERAPY PRACTITIONER?

Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (NTP) are trained to respect the bio-individuality of each client. We know how to identify nutritional deficiencies and how to bring the body back into balance using diet, and supplements when needed. We look to our ancestors, who survived healthily on a whole food diet rich in nutrients, as our inspiration to restore good health and vitality to enable us to thrive. Unfortunately in our world today, we are surrounded by escalating levels of toxins and far more stress than our ancestors ever had to deal with on a day to day basis. Our food and soil contain far fewer nutrients than ever before and pesticide use has risen to worrying levels. However, we have not evolved to improve our ability to detoxify and sooner or later our organs end up bearing the brunt. Through the art of touch, clinical assessment, and discussion, a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner has the tools to find out the underlying causes of your health concerns.

We look at the price of self-care as an investment rather than a cost. After all, there is no better investment than ensuring you can live without symptoms, ill health, and dis-ease.

WHY NUTRITIONAL THERAPY AND IN WHAT WAY IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER NUTRITIONAL ASSESSMENTS?

Nutritional Therapy takes a holistic, nutritional approach, relying on the body’s own innate intelligence to confirm where help is needed and say what it needs in order to rebalance. It incorporates six foundations of health: A nutrient dense diet, Digestion, Blood Sugar Balance, Essential Fatty Acids, Mineral Balance and Hydration, and always respecting bio-individuality. Once you have the foundations in check, the rest of the body should be able to recalibrate. Nutritional Therapy offers a unique hands-on approach as explained below. Please note a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner does not diagnose or treat a condition, but supports the client nutritionally.

WHAT IS A FUNCTIONAL EVALUATION?

A hands-on evaluation that is performed through the use of palpations which, together with comprehensive clinical assessment and discussion, help identify where deficiencies lie and find the root cause of the client’s signs and symptoms. With the client lying down, palpations are done on various parts of the body that relate to the body’s organs. The client informs practitioner of a tenderness rating for each palpation until a complete picture is formed and we know where help is needed most. This is foll wed by Lingual Neuro Testing.

WHAT IS LINGUAL NEURO TESTING?

Used hand in hand alongside the Functional Evaluation, “LNT” is a scientific method of tapping into the intimate link between brain and organs, to ascertain what a particular organ needs to bring it back into balance. Palpations determine the priorities of each individual client, then a supplement, nutrient or food is placed on the client’s tongue and the relevant point is re-palpated. If the supplement is beneficial, the tenderness rating of the point will come down. This is the body’s innate expression of how it can start to feel better.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?

Anyone who is experiencing signs and symptoms of imbalance, be it chronic, acute or a niggling feeling that something isn’t quite right. Nutritional Therapy can help you with digestive issues, autoimmune disease, balancing blood sugar and busting cravings, chronic fatigue, skin complaints, joint pain, hormonal imbalance, food and environmental allergies/sensitivities and more.

WHAT SHOULD I DO, AND WEAR, IN ORDER TO PREPARE FOR THE CONSULTATIONS?

In advance of our first consultation, I will send you an online Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire to complete and return. This should take you around 20 minutes to do. I will also send you pdf downloads that you can print off, complete, scan and email back to me before we meet. Alternatively you can come into the wellness centre and pick up some blank forms, fill them in and email back to me. These forms, which gather information for our Initial Interview, including your concerns, plus a 3-day Food Journal, are so important as they give me a good picture and understanding of your health background and enable me to work out the best protocol for you. It is helpful to have these forms from you at least 2 days before our first appointment so we can make the most of our time together.

Please wear button/zip-free yoga pants or sweat pants with plain tops. It is better to wear thinner layers as opposed to one thick piece of clothing. Please also ensure you do not eat or drink anything (other than water) within at least 1 hour of your appointment. It is also a good idea to bring any current supplements along with you.

Please feel free to get in touch for a FREE 15 minute chat to see whether Nutritional Therapy is right for you. This will give you the opportunity to meet me, I can explain the process and then answer any questions you may have.
