Psychotherapy SessionsWhat is Psychotherapy?Psychotherapy is a gentle process of shifting the view of one’s self (self-concept) and shedding light on patterns of thinking and how one defines “reality.” This can be done by unlocking the innate healing and wisdom of the spirit, mind, and body through the establishment of a safe, therapeutic relationship. The process can range from one or a few sessions, to long term. The results are usually relief of or decrease in troubling symptoms, acquired tools for coping with and managing life’s demands, a renewed sense of hope, integration, and increased joy for the purpose of living more authentically and abundantly. What can psychotherapy help me with?
What form of psychotherapy is offered at Elements?Shiri R. Joshua, M.A (Coun. Psych), offers her services at Elements from a psycho-spiritual heart-based approach, facilitating wellness and healing through awareness to the meaning of presenting symptoms. Shiri works in integrating years of post-graduate level training and experience in the fields of psychology, attachment studies, child & adolescent development, and metaphysics, along with a background as an intuitive energy healer (for pets and people), and her natural ability to telepathically commune with the animal kingdom as relevant to the client (e.g. during a pet loss bereavement healing session). Shiri is passionate about facilitating an environment for her clients to become empowered about their own innate ability to tap their “inner teacher” and hear the voice of guidance, to aid in decision making and daily life. This is achieved through a unique process of guiding and equipping her clients to align mind with heart, and soul with spirit. How long does it usually take?Depending on the concerns at hand, and the level of trust and openness established during sessions, this form of psychotherapy is usually short term (1-5 sessions) unless of course more work is needed and requested. Shiri works carefully in assessing her clients’ current state of readiness for the work, and at times she may work closely with, or refer to other professional colleagues, such as a life coach (Ann Sullivan at Elements Centre), a psychologist, or a psychiatrist if she feels it's appropriate and after a mutual discussion with her client. How do I know if I need a consultation session?
