Is Electrolysis permanent?
Electrolysis is the only permanent solution to unwanted hair growth. It is a series of treatments. Once a barrier is achieved between the blood supply (food source) and the hair seed, no hair growth is possible. All other hair removal methods are temporary and could encourage hair growth.
What about...
Waxing?
If you stop waxing, within a year, the hair will regrow heavier than it was originally.
Shaving?
Can be coordinated with treatment, but is not permanent solution.
Laser?
Laser cannot penetrate deep enough to have permanent results.
Is the electric current safe?
Electrolysis was first used by a doctor in 1875 and is highly recommended by the medical profession. There have not been any adverse effects discovered from electrolysis treatment in over 100 years.
What should I look for in an Electrologist?
Look for certificates indicating proper training. Before you even start with electrolysis, you should be sure that your Electrologist uses sterile, disposable needles, and gloves, an Autoclave sterilizer and clean sanitized treatment rooms, to prevent the spread of disease. Once treatment begins, you should be aware of the proper parameters of treatment:
- You should not feel the needles being inserted into your skin
- You will feel the sensation of the curent
- You should not feel the hair coming out
Can I get AIDS from electrolysis?
There has never been a case of AIDS transmission through electrolysis. Again, make certain the Electrologist you choose, meets or exceeds sterilization standards.
Does it hurt?
Every person's pain tolerance is different. If you are uncomfortable, we suggest topical anesthetics or the newest technology; MadaJet. MadaJet provides completely pain free treatment.
What is MadaJet?
The MadaJet is a needle-less anesthetic system that has been successfully used by doctors and dentists for over 25 years. This method of anesthetic application allows Electrologists to work with much higher currents at a quicker pace, decreasing the number of treatments you require.
How often would I get treatments?
Electrologists need to assess your situation as an individual. This should be accomplished through a FREE consultation and FREE sample treatment.
Are there different methods of treatment?
There are 3 different methods of electrolysis.
Thermolysis
the fastest method uses heat to seal off the blood supply. Some scabbing will occur.
Galvanic
a chemical reaction occurs causing the salt and water in your follicles to change into a chemical liquid ("Lye") which seals off the blood supply. This is a very slow method.
Blend
Both methods combine resulting in a fast and effective treatment. Blend is generally less painful, and gentle on the skin.
My skin is sensitive, and seems to break out. Can I still have treatments?
Often, you will have sensitive skin because of a hair growth problem. This is due to ingrown hair and/or flare-ups of the surrounding skin as the hair tries to grow in. Permanent removal of offending hairs will help to alleviate flare-ups. Any reaction to treatment is usually gone within a couple of hours.
What is new in the field of electrology?
Blend, although invented over 50 years ago, has been perfected with computerized epilators and offers a comfortable, effective treatment. More recently, a surgical microscope or loopes have been introduced into the field which provides visual enlargement, resulting in more accurate treatment, and elimination of scarring, a higher comfort level and better results. And finally, the introduction of the MadaJet freezing device which allows Electrologists to provide their clients with faster, pain-free treatments.
