Silke Fraser, BA, RMT, CIMT

Silke is a dynamic therapist with a family based practice who is passionate about her work. She customizes each session specific to her client's need and may include a multitude of techniques including Swedish relaxation massage, Myofascial release, joint play and deep tissue massage. She also practices Muscle Energy Technique (MET) for spinal and pelvic joint alignment. MET is fantastic for treating traumatic injuries caused by car accidents, hits by heavy objects and falls. In the later stages of pregnancy, MET can be used to promote fluid pelvic joint movements and encourage optimal fetal positioning and ease of birth. Pre and post natal massage therapy is the primary focus of Silke's practice. This has fueled her interest in relieving pelvic and spinal issues in her non-pregnant patients as well. In addition, all patients receive problem specific tips on exercise, stretch and postural awareness.

Silke strongly believes in a holistic approach to health care. It takes a dedicated team, including the patient, to achieve optimal health. She is very excited to be part of the fantastic team at Elements Wellness Centre!

Silke is a graduate of the 3000 hour program of Massage Therapy from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster. She is also registered with the College of Massage Therapy and a member of the Massage Therapy Association. Since becoming a registered massage therapist, Silke has continued her quest for knowledge and therapeutic excellence by attending numerous post-graduate courses on topics such as pregnancy massage therapy, Muscle Energy Technique, Fascial Manipulation and Barral Institute's Visceral Work of the lower abdomen. She is also certified as an Infant Massage Teacher. In addition, she has trained as a Doula to be able to assist her pregnant patients better and understand the joys and challenges of pregnancy, birth and the post-partum period. A profound experience, which she has since experienced herself, with the birth of her amazing son in 2008.

When Silke is not massaging, she teaches Myology 100 to new massage therapy students at the Utopia Academy as well as infant massage classes to expecting moms, new parents and caregivers. In her free time, she can be found challenging herself with new healthy cooking recipes that taste good, exploring new places and chasing after her exuberant toddler all over Vancouver!
